Jean Mappin and her daughter Kathleen Terra returned home June 18 from a European vacation of more than two weeks.

Their trip began with touring Rome, Italy. They also visited the Cassino War Cemetery in Italy where Jean’s uncle Private Hans Bauman is among the more than 4,200 allied soldiers who lost their lives in the Second World War are laid to rest.

Jean and Kathleen also visited Switzerland, the homeland of Jean’s Bauman side of the family and were impressed by how beautiful that country is.

A river cruise from Germany to Amsterdam was also a trip highlight of a very delightful holiday.

The trip celebrated Jean’s 80th birthday, which she marked earlier this year.

Sympathy is extended to the family of Betty Kobi who passed away on June 15 in Stettler at 91 years of age.

Betty and her late husband Edwin Kobi farmed west of Byemoor for many years where they raised their family of three – Karen, Dwayne and Kayleen.

After selling the farm they moved to Stettler. Our thoughts are with all of Betty’s family in their loss. Donations in memory of Betty may be made to the Byemoor Cemetery, Box 61 Byemoor, AB T0J 0L0.

Dale and Dee Green are home from 5 days at Fairmont, B.C. where they enjoyed camping and the Hot Springs.
